Daniela Libertad was born in Mexico City, where she currently lives and works. She has received a Master of Fine Arts from NYU Steinhardt in New York City and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from ENPEG „La Esmeralda“, Mexico City. In her work she focuses mainly on performative aspects by ritualizing certain acts. Her personal approach, which is strongly connected to Conceptual Art of the 1960s, she expresses herself through different media, such as video, photography, installation and drawings. The latter manifest their time-consuming production process and are therefore strongly connected to her time-based films and installations. In her geometrical compositions the question of balance/imbalance appears as well as in her sculptural pieces. The equilibrium is revealed as a fragile one.
